These two have the right idea!
A while back I wrote about getting up, getting going, and getting through it. Well, I’d like to think I’ve graduated from just getting through it to trying to enjoy myself!
We all have things we have to do that we don’t enjoy: work, work, and well, work! But there is a certain good feeling that can come from doing what you do, and trying to have fun while you do it. Does this mean every day is a party? No. But maybe try to lighten up, not take work TOO seriously, and do what you do – and do it well.
Many tasks that seem boring, repetitive, or lame are exactly that. Sometimes you can make it more interesting and entertaining for yourself by making challenges for yourself (as if enough don’t exist already!) and then meeting or exceeding those challenges.
I know this sounds about as much fun as your mom telling you to clean your room, and to “make a game out of it!” As much as that used to piss me off as a young squirrel, it’s actually pretty good advice. Then you start to get really into what you are doing, and before you know it the time has passed and you are finished with the task. For some reason, when squirrels focus on something, time stands still until we get done what we need to get done. This can be a benefit, or a detriment, depending on what you choose to focus on.
Today I’m going to try to follow the example of these two playful squirrels and have fun today!
